Our Philosophy
Estate planning is an act of love and protection for the people and values that matter most.
Our philosophy is simple: effective planning should feel empowering, not intimidating. We believe every family deserves a strategy tailored to their unique dynamics, values, and goals.
Wendy M. Brown, JD MPA
Hi, I’m Wendy Brown! I founded Brown Legacy Law because I believe estate planning should feel empowering, not overwhelming. After experiencing firsthand how a lack of planning and understanding can impact families during times of loss, I became passionate about helping people protect the people they love with clarity and confidence.
My career spans criminal defense, veterans’ advocacy, complex business litigation, and estate planning—each shaping how I guide clients through complex legal and life transitions. Early on, criminal defense taught me to think strategically under pressure and uphold due process. I then focused on veterans' advocacy: navigating claims, securing benefits and housing, and assisting with post-conviction relief. Now I channel that experience into estate planning, creating protection strategies that offer clarity and support families at every life stage.
In addition to practicing law, I served as a Logistics Officer in the California Army National Guard for more than a decade, including two deployments to the Middle East and multiple emergency response missions supporting communities affected by wildfires and mudslides. I am now a Judge Advocate (JAG) in the US Army Reserve. The leadership, teamwork, and adaptability I developed through these experiences directly inform my approach to client service.
When I’m not assisting families with estate planning, you can usually find me hiking through a National Park, lifting weights, or training at the boxing gym. At home, most of my free time belongs to my new puppy, Pax: a fun-loving Boxer and American Shepherd mix, and to my rescue pup, Donner: a spirited Doberman, Husky, and Cattledog mix who keeps life adventurous.
Together, let's navigate the legal landscape with ease and pave the way for your secure future.

Our Values Guide Every Conversation
Your legacy deserves a process that feels empowering, not overwhelming. We lead with education and transparency so you can make informed decisions with confidence.
-
No legal jargon hiding behind complex language. We explain what matters, what might go wrong, and why each decision shapes your family's future. You'll always know what you're signing and why.
-
We believe estate planning is most effective when clients understand both the process and the purpose behind every recommendation. That’s why the first half of every consultation focuses on educating clients about estate planning.
-
We don't pretend to have all the answers. When we don't know, we'll tell you and follow up with research. We ask hard questions because we care about getting it right, not because we're trying to sell you something.
In Practice This Means:
You'll sit down with me—not a paralegal or assistant—to understand your specific situation
We'll talk through scenarios that might feel uncomfortable, because avoiding them now creates bigger problems later
Every recommendation comes with a clear reason, not just a legal template
Estate planning requires trust. We've built our practice on earning it, one family at a time.
